The grey bamboo lemur is also known as the grey gentle lemur. Its scientific name is Hapalemur griseus. This lemur is the smallest type of bamboo lemur. It lives mostly in the bamboo forests of eastern Madagascar. These lemurs are usually active around dusk, which means they are crepuscular. They mainly eat bamboo leaves and shoots.
What Does the Grey Bamboo Lemur Look Like?
Grey bamboo lemurs can grow up to 1 foot (30 cm) long. They weigh up to 5 pounds (2.3 kg). They have a thick, woolly coat. Their fur is grey to olive-grey on their upper body. They often have chestnut-brown colors on their head and shoulders. Sometimes, this brown color can also be seen on their back.
