Echinocereus subinermis is a type of flowering plant in the cactus family. It originally comes from northern, northwestern, and central Mexico. This cactus has a round stem with 5 to 8 clear ridges. It can grow into a tall, round shape, reaching about 30 centimeters (1 foot) tall and wide. In early summer, it produces bright yellow flowers that are about 8 centimeters (3 inches) long.
When people grow this cactus in cooler places, it needs to be kept warm. Often, it's grown inside a greenhouse or a warm room. This plant has won a special award called the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. This award means it's a really good plant for gardens.
