Historic Buildings: The Post and Customs House

Eckerö is famous for its Post and Customs House. This building is very large. It was built to help with mail services between Stockholm, Sweden, and St. Petersburg, Russia.

The building was constructed in 1828. This was during a time when Russia had control over the area. A famous architect named C.L. Engel designed the building. It stands as an important reminder of the past postal routes.
