Ecovía is a special bus system in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. It's called a bus rapid transit (BRT) system. This means it's designed to be fast and efficient, like a train but using buses! Ecovía started running in January 2014.
What is Ecovía?
Ecovía is a modern public transport system. It helps people travel easily around the Monterrey Metropolitan area. It uses special buses that run on their own dedicated roads. This helps them avoid traffic jams.
How does Ecovía work?
Ecovía has one main route that is about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) long. This route connects three important cities:
The buses travel on a special road called a "busway." This road is only for Ecovía buses. This means they can move quickly without getting stuck in regular traffic.
Ecovía Stations and Features
Ecovía has 40 stations along its route. These stations are designed to make your trip easy:
- You pay for your ticket before you get on the bus. This saves time.
- The station platforms are at the same level as the bus floor. This makes it easy to get on and off, especially for people with strollers or wheelchairs.
- The buses also offer free Wi-Fi! You can stay connected while you travel.
