Eddie Colman's Early Life and Football Start

Eddie Colman was born in Ordsall, Salford, England. He was the only child of Richard and Elizabeth Colman.

After finishing school in 1952, Eddie joined the youth team at Manchester United. He quickly showed his talent. By the 1955–56 season, he became a regular player in the first team. He played as a right-half, taking the place of another player named Jeff Whitefoot. He often played alongside the famous Duncan Edwards.

Football Success with Manchester United

Eddie Colman helped Manchester United win the Football League First Division title in his first season, 1955–56. This was a great achievement for the team.

The very next season, 1956–57, he won another league championship medal. He also helped United reach the semi-finals of the European Cup. This was a big European competition for clubs. In the 1957 FA Cup final, United lost 2–1 to Aston Villa. So, Eddie received a runners-up medal.

He played a total of 108 games for Manchester United. He scored two goals during his time with the team. His second goal was scored in a European Cup quarter-final game against Red Star Belgrade. This game was just before the tragic accident.

His Famous Nickname: Snakehips

During his time at Manchester United, Eddie Colman was given the nickname "Snakehips." This was because of his special way of moving on the field. He had a unique "body swerve" move that helped him get past opponents.
