Edward Colman (born November 1, 1936 – died February 6, 1958) was an English football player. He played as a wing-half, which is a type of midfielder. Eddie Colman was one of eight Manchester United players who sadly died in the Munich air disaster.

Eddie Colman's Early Life and Football Start
Eddie Colman was born in Ordsall, Salford, England. He was the only child of Richard and Elizabeth Colman.
After finishing school in 1952, Eddie joined the youth team at Manchester United. He quickly showed his talent. By the 1955–56 season, he became a regular player in the first team. He played as a right-half, taking the place of another player named Jeff Whitefoot. He often played alongside the famous Duncan Edwards.
Football Success with Manchester United
Eddie Colman helped Manchester United win the Football League First Division title in his first season, 1955–56. This was a great achievement for the team.
The very next season, 1956–57, he won another league championship medal. He also helped United reach the semi-finals of the European Cup. This was a big European competition for clubs. In the 1957 FA Cup final, United lost 2–1 to Aston Villa. So, Eddie received a runners-up medal.
He played a total of 108 games for Manchester United. He scored two goals during his time with the team. His second goal was scored in a European Cup quarter-final game against Red Star Belgrade. This game was just before the tragic accident.
His Famous Nickname: Snakehips
During his time at Manchester United, Eddie Colman was given the nickname "Snakehips." This was because of his special way of moving on the field. He had a unique "body swerve" move that helped him get past opponents.
The Munich Air Disaster
Sadly, Eddie Colman died on February 6, 1958. He was involved in the Munich air disaster. The team's plane had stopped in Munich to refuel on its way back from a game. The plane crashed during takeoff.
Eddie was only 21 years and 3 months old when he died. He was the youngest of the 23 people who lost their lives in the crash.
Remembering Eddie Colman
A building at the University of Salford is named after him. It is called the Eddie Colman Court. This building is a block of flats located near the main university campus.
After his death, a statue of Eddie Colman was placed at his grave. His grave is in Weaste Cemetery in Salford. However, the statue was damaged by vandals. After it was fixed, it was moved to the home of his father, Dick. Eddie's father, Dick, passed away in 1986. He is buried next to Eddie and Eddie's mother, Elizabeth.
