Edgar Nicaise Constant Salli (born on August 17, 1992), known as Edgar Salli, is a footballer from Cameroon. He played as a winger, which is a player who runs down the sides of the field. Edgar Salli played for famous clubs like Monaco and Coton Sport.

Club Career

Early Career in Cameroon

Edgar Salli started his football journey with a club called Ngaoundéré FC in Cameroon. He made his first appearance as a senior player in the 2008–09 season. After his team was moved to a lower league, Salli joined Coton Sport in 2009.

His first season with Coton Sport was a big success. The team won the Cameroonian championship for the tenth time. Salli also became an important player for the Cameroon under-20 team. He kept playing well for Coton Sport. His great performances in the 2011 African Youth Championship caught the eye of many European clubs.

Monaco and Loans

After helping Coton Sport win the championship again, Salli moved to Monaco in July 2011. He signed a three-year contract with the club. Monaco had recently moved down to a lower league, Ligue 2.

Salli played his first game for Monaco on August 1, 2011. He scored his first goal for the club a few weeks later. He ended that season with five goals in 31 games. The next season, Salli played mostly for Monaco's reserve team. He also played one game for the main team. That season, Monaco won the league and moved back up to Ligue 1.

Monaco then loaned Salli to other clubs so he could get more playing time.

  • On July 23, 2013, he joined RC Lens for a season.
  • On August 22, 2014, he was loaned to Académica in Portugal.
  • For the 2015–16 season, Salli was loaned to St. Gallen in Switzerland.

1. FC Nürnberg

On July 21, 2016, Edgar Salli moved to Germany. He joined 1. FC Nürnberg, a team in the 2. Bundesliga, which is Germany's second-highest football league.

Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe

On July 29, 2019, Salli signed a two-year contract with Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe. This club plays in Liga I, Romania's top football league.

International Career

Before playing for the main Cameroon national team, Salli played for his country's youth teams. He joined the under-20 team in 2009. He played regularly for them for two years.

Salli played in the 2010 CEMAC Cup and was named the best player at the 2011 African Youth Championship. Cameroon finished second in both of these competitions.

Salli made his first appearance for the senior Cameroon team on October 11, 2011. This was in a 1–1 draw against Equatorial Guinea. He also played in the 2011 LG Cup in November, which Cameroon won. Salli scored his first goal for Cameroon against Moldova on June 7, 2014. He scored the winning goal for Cameroon against Mauritania in June 2016 during a qualification match for the Africa Cup of Nations.
