Why is it Called Edison Park?

The area was once known as Canfield. But in 1890, it was renamed Edison Park to honor Thomas Edison, who was a very well-known inventor at the time. It's pretty neat to have a place named after such an important historical figure!

According to a count done in 2000, about 11,259 people live in Edison Park. This neighborhood is known for having a lot of people with Irish family backgrounds. In fact, more than three-quarters of the people living here have Irish ancestry!
