Edmond Gareginovich Keosayan (Armenian: Էդմոնդ Քյոսայան; Russian: Эдмонд Гарегинович Кеосаյան; 9 October 1936 – 21 April 1994) was a famous Armenian Soviet film director. He was also a talented musician. He is best known for directing exciting adventure movies.

He made films mainly in the Armenian and Russian languages. Edmond Keosayan passed away on April 21, 1994. He was buried in the Kuntsevo Cemetery in Moscow.

Edmond Keosayan's Life and Career

Early Life and Education

Edmond Keosayan was born in Gyumri, Armenia. From 1952 to 1954, he worked at a watch factory in Yerevan. He then studied economics in Moscow from 1954 to 1956.

Later, he studied at the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre and Cinematography. He also worked as a compere, which is like a host for shows. In 1964, he finished his studies in directing at the VGIK film school.

Working as a Director

After graduating, Edmond Keosayan became a director at Mosfilm Studio. This was a very famous film studio in the Soviet Union. He also sometimes worked at Armenfilm Studio in Armenia.

He was also a compere for the Soviet State Variety Orchestra. This shows he had many talents beyond just making movies.

Edmond Keosayan Award

There is a special award named after Edmond Keosayan. It is called the Edmond Keosayan Award for Excellence in Cardiology. Cardiology is the study of the heart and its diseases.

This award has been given since 2001. It goes to young researchers who do excellent scientific work in cardiology. The award is part of the Young Medics International Conference in Yerevan.

The winner receives $2,000 from the Edmond Keosayan Foundation. This award was created by Edmond's son, Tigran Keosayan. It honors the friendship between Edmond Keosayan and his cardiologist, Parounak Zelveian.
