Edna Guy was born in a place called Sutton in Surrey, England. She grew up to become a famous painter. Her art often showed the beauty and power of the ocean.

Her Artistic Journey

Edna started her art training in South Africa in 1920. There, she learned from an artist named John Amschewitz. After that, she moved to Paris, France. From 1921 to 1922, she studied at a famous art school called the Academie Julian.

Later, in 1934, Edna went back to full-time art studies. She attended the Spenlove School, where Reginald Eves was her teacher. In 1936, she joined the Slade School of Fine Art. Here, she was taught by Randolph Schwabe. These schools helped her become the skilled artist she was.

Edna Guy was a member of important art groups. She belonged to the Royal Watercolour Society. She also showed her work with the Royal Society of Marine Artists. This group focuses on paintings of the sea.

Her paintings were shown in many famous places. She exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. She also showed her art with the Society of Women Artists. Her work was seen at the National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Engravers too.
