A Leader in Local Government

Edward McFadden played a big part in local government in County Donegal. He was the chairman of the Donegal County Council from 1899 to 1902. This council helps manage local services and decisions for the county.

He also served as the chairman of the Letterkenny Urban Council from 1898 to 1903. This council focused on the needs of the town of Letterkenny itself. Being a chairman meant he was a key leader in these important local groups.

Serving in Parliament

Edward McFadden also became a Member of Parliament (MP). An MP is someone elected by the public to represent them in the House of Commons. This is a major part of the government in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, where laws are made.
