Edward More (MP) facts for kids
Sir Edward More (born around 1555, died 1623) was an important English politician from Odiham in Hampshire. He served as a Justice of the Peace (a local judge) for Surrey and Sussex in the 1580s, and later for Hampshire. He became a knight in 1600.

Who Was Sir Edward More?
Sir Edward More was the son of John More, who also served as a Member of Parliament (a representative in the government). His mother was Agnes Moulton. John More lived in Westminster and Sussex.
Sir Edward More's Career
Sir Edward More began studying law, but he soon became involved in court life. He spent his time between the royal court and his family homes in Sussex and Hampshire. He was present at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth I in 1603.
He also helped manage the will of Lady Dacre, a wealthy woman who left much of her property to the Cecil family. Sir Edward More was one of the people in charge of making sure her wishes were followed.

First Marriage
His first wife was Mary Poynings, who passed away in 1591. Together, they had five sons, but sadly, all of them died before their father. They also had one daughter who survived:
- Elizabeth More: She married Sir Thomas Drewe. He was an important official in Devon, known as the Sheriff of Devon, in 1612.
Second Marriage
His second wife was Frances Brooke. She was the daughter of a nobleman, William Brooke, and had been married before. Sir Edward and Frances had one daughter:
