Edward Rudge's Political Career

Edward Rudge started his political journey in 1728. He became a Member of Parliament (MP) for a place called Aylesbury. He was a member of the Whig party. He was elected without anyone running against him, which means he won easily. His brother-in-law, Sir William Stanhope, helped him get this position.

Edward often voted against the government's plans. He did not run in the 1734 election. In 1740, his father passed away, and Edward inherited his family's property in Evesham.

In 1741, Edward was elected MP for Evesham. This was the same area his father had represented. He won this election without anyone running against him too. He was also re-elected easily in 1747.

By 1753, people noted that Edward usually voted with the government, even if he didn't attend Parliament very often. In the 1754 election, another candidate ran against him. Edward lost this election, even though he spent a lot of money trying to win.

However, Edward Rudge was elected MP for Evesham again in a special election in 1756. He did not run for election in 1761.

Edward Rudge passed away on June 6, 1763. He did not have any children.
