Edward Ward (born 1753, died 1812) was an important Irish politician. He was known as 'The Honourable' from 1770. He came from a well-known family in Ireland and played a part in the country's government.

Edward Ward's Family Life

Edward Ward was the third son of Bernard Ward, who was the first Viscount Bangor. His mother was Lady Ann Bligh. Edward had two brothers, Nicholas and Robert.

In 1785, Edward and his uncle, Sir John Parnell, asked the Irish House of Lords for help. They wanted to manage his brother Nicholas's affairs. Their request was approved.

Edward Ward married his cousin, Lady Arabella Crosbie, on February 15, 1783. Lady Arabella was the youngest daughter of William Crosbie, the first Earl of Glandore. Edward and Arabella had a large family together. They had six daughters and five sons.

Edward Ward passed away in 1812 at his family home, Castle Ward. His third son, Edward Southwell Ward, later became the third Viscount Bangor in 1827.

Edward Ward's Political Career

Edward Ward began his political journey in 1776. He joined the Irish House of Commons, which was like a parliament for Ireland at the time.

He first represented the area of Bangor. This was the same area his father and older brother had represented before him. He served as a representative for Bangor until 1776.

After that, he was elected to represent County Down. He continued to serve in the Irish House of Commons for County Down until 1790.
