Effie Adelaide Maria Henderson (born around 1859 – died October 16, 1936) was a British writer. She is famous for writing over 250 romance novels and many short stories. She used different pen names like Effie Adelaide Rowlands and E. Maria Albanesi.

Effie Adelaide Maria Henderson was born in New South Wales, Australia. Her parents were Alexander Henderson and Maria Nelson. Effie had a sister named Caroline Sidney Henderson, who was an actress known as Carrie Hope. Her niece, Maria Effie Hallatt, also became an actress named May Hallatt.

Marriages and Family

In 1882, Effie married Cecil Rowlands. He was a playwright who used the stage name Cecil Raleigh. She began her writing career around this time. They later divorced in 1893.

A few years later, in 1896, Effie married Carlo Albanesi. Carlo was a talented Italian concert pianist, teacher, and composer. He taught music at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Effie and Carlo had two daughters. Their first daughter was Eva Olimpia Maria Albanesi, born in 1897. Their second daughter was Margherita Cecilia Brigida Lucia Maria Albanesi, born in 1899. Margherita became a well-known actress, famous as Meggie Albanesi.

Effie passed away at her home in London on October 16, 1936. She was cremated at Golders Green Crematorium.
