Eichō facts for kids
Eichō (永長) was a short but important period in Japanese history. It was a Japanese era (also called a nengō, which means "year name"). The Eichō era came right after the Kahō era and just before the Jōtoku era.
This era lasted for a little less than a year. It began in December 1096 and finished in November 1097. During this time, the emperor of Japan was Emperor Horikawa.

- 1096 (Eichō 1): A very important person named Fujiwara no Moromichi was given a higher rank in the government. This showed his power and influence in the emperor's court.
