Eifort, Ohio facts for kids
Eifort is a small place in the United States, located in the state of Ohio. It's not a big city or a town with its own government. Instead, it's called an unincorporated community, which means it's a group of homes and businesses that are part of a larger county, not a separate city. Eifort is special because it sits right on the border of two counties: Lawrence County and Scioto County.
The Story of Eifort
Eifort started to grow in the early 1880s. This was an exciting time because the railroad was being built and expanded across the country. When the railroad tracks reached this area, it became easier for people and goods to travel, which helped the community develop.
The name "Eifort" comes from a local family who lived there. They were an important part of the area's history. To help the people living in Eifort, a post office was opened in 1883. This meant people could send and receive letters and packages right in their own community. The post office served the area for many years, finally closing its doors in 1952.
