A Champion for Peace and Education
Electronita Duan became involved in helping people resolve conflicts and build peace. This happened after a difficult time of conflict in North Halmahera, Indonesia. This period was known as the Maluku sectarian conflict. She saw how much people needed help to rebuild their lives.
Building a School for the Future
After the conflict, many students could not continue their studies. To help them, Electronita Duan founded Politeknik Pembangunan Halmahera. This is a higher education institute. It was created to give students a chance to learn again. It helped them get back on track with their education.
Working with Others for Peace
Electronita Duan also worked with other groups to spread peace. She supported the Asian Muslim Action Network (AMAN) Women's Schools for Peace. These schools help women learn about peacebuilding. She also worked with the Search for Common Ground organization. Through this work, she shared her own story of building peace in the Maluku Islands.
