Eline Powell (born Eline Pauwels on April 12, 1990) is a Belgian actress. She is most famous for her leading role as a mermaid in the American TV show Siren.

Early Life and Schooling
Eline was born in Leuven, Belgium. Her parents are the Belgian scientist Rudi Pauwels and researcher Carine Claeys. In 1994, they helped start a science company called Tibotec.
Eline lived in Mechelen, Belgium, until she was 14. After living in Switzerland for a short time, her family moved to England. Even though she moved, she is still a Belgian citizen and thinks of Belgium as her home.
She studied acting at the famous Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. In 2011, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Acting Career
Eline Powell began her acting career in a short film for students called For Elsie. She played Mila, a girl who wanted to learn piano in just one day. Her acting won awards at film festivals in Beijing and the USA.
In 2012, she had a small part in the movie Quartet, which was directed by the famous actor Dustin Hoffman.
Breakthrough Roles
In 2014, Eline starred in the Italian movie Anita B.. For this role, she was named the "Breakout Actress" of the year at a film festival. However, not all critics liked her performance. One magazine said she didn't show the character's past suffering very well.
In 2016, she appeared in two episodes of the popular TV show Game of Thrones. She played Bianca, an actress who was part of a play within the show. She also had small roles in the 2017 movies Novitiate and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
Starring in Siren
In 2016, Eline was chosen for the main role in the TV series Siren. She played Ryn, a wild mermaid who comes to a small town to find her sister.
To get ready for the part, Eline did a lot of research.
- She studied old stories about mermaids.
- She watched videos of ocean predators to learn how to move like one.
- She was inspired by the singer Björk from Iceland to create a unique voice for Ryn.
- She also trained with a free diver to learn how to swim with a special fin, called a monofin.
Most reviews of Siren praised Eline's acting. One review called her performance "magnetic" because she could show so much emotion without speaking. Another said her acting was one of the show's biggest strengths. But not everyone agreed. One review said she looked "weird" and stared too intensely.
Siren was a very popular show and was renewed for a second season, which started in January 2019. The show ran until 2020.
Personal Life
In December 2018, Eline announced she was engaged to Lee Lennox, a British director. In July 2021, they had a baby girl.
