Elizabeth Dent was born in 1591. Her parents were John Dent and Alice Grant. Her father, John Dent, came from Leicester. He became a successful salter (someone who dealt with salt and spices) and a merchant in London. This meant he was involved in trade and business in the busy city.

First Marriage to Francis Vere

On 26 October 1607, Elizabeth married her first husband, Francis Vere. He was a well-known soldier and a hero from many battles. Sadly, Francis Vere passed away in 1609, just two years after they were married.

Second Marriage to Patrick Murray

After Francis Vere's death, Elizabeth was considered for another marriage. In 1613, she married Sir Patrick Murray. He was a Scottish nobleman. Patrick Murray came to London in 1603 with King James, who became the King of England and Scotland. Patrick was knighted at St James Palace that same year.

Patrick Murray later became the Earl of Tullibardine in January 1628. An Earl is a high-ranking title in the nobility. Patrick had been married before, and his first wife was Prudence Bulmer. Patrick Murray died in October 1644.

Later Life and Legacy

Elizabeth Dent lived for several years after her second husband, Patrick Murray, passed away. She died in 1656. As a Countess, she held an important position in society. Her life connected her to powerful families and events of the 17th century.
