Ellen Fitzsimon (1805 – 27 January 1883) was an Irish poet. She was the eldest daughter of the famous Irish leader, Daniel O'Connell. Ellen was known for her poems, which appeared in several magazines and newspapers. She also published her own book of poems.

Early Life and Family Connections
Ellen Fitzsimon was born Ellen Bridget O'Connell in 1805. Her birthplace was Derrynane House in County Kerry, Ireland. She was the third child and first daughter of Daniel O'Connell and Mary O'Connell.
Ellen received a good education. She was able to speak several languages. She was also a strong supporter of her father's political work. Her father, Daniel O'Connell, was a very important figure in Irish history.
A Poet's Voice
Ellen Fitzsimon was a talented writer. Her poems were printed in popular publications of her time. These included Irish Monthly, The Nation, and Duffy's Fireside Magazine.
In 1863, she published a book of her own poems. It was called Derrynane Abbey in 1832, and other Poems. This book showed her skill as a poet.
Marriage and Children
On July 25, 1825, Ellen married Christopher Fitzsimon. He was from Glencullen, County Dublin. Christopher Fitzsimon was a Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dublin County. This meant he helped make laws for the area.
Ellen and Christopher had 13 children together. Some of their children included:

- Christopher O'Connell Fitzsimon (1830-1884)
- Henry O'Connell Fitzsimon (1835-1902)
- Ellen "Eily" O'Connell Fitzsimon (1838–1919), who married Charles Bianconi jnr. Charles was the son of Charles Bianconi, a famous businessman.
- Kathleen Henrietta O'Connell Fitzsimon (1842-1927)
Later Life and Legacy
Ellen Fitzsimon passed away in London, England. She died on January 27, 1883, at the age of 77 or 78. She was buried in Kensal Green Cemetery. Ellen is remembered as an important Irish poet.
