Ellen Riley Wright (born December 24, 1859 – died August 3, 1904) was a talented English composer. She wrote music for many popular songs during her time.

Ellen Riley was born in London, the daughter of an American engineer named George Riley. She later married a lawyer.
Ellen started composing music without any formal lessons. She published her first songs in 1891. People really liked her music! Because of this success, she decided to learn more. She studied harmony with Henry Gadsby and learned how to arrange music for orchestras with Francis William Davenport. This helped her become an even better composer.
