Elm, Missouri facts for kids
Elm is a small place in Johnson County, which is in the state of Missouri in the United States. It's called an unincorporated community because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does.
History of Elm
Elm got its start a long time ago. In 1882, people opened a post office there. A post office is where you send and receive letters and packages. This post office helped the people living in Elm for about 21 years, closing in 1903.
The community of Elm was named after a special place nearby. There was a spring, which is a natural flow of water from the ground. Next to this spring stood a very large and important elm tree. This beautiful tree gave the community its name.
