Elmont's History
Elmont officially started in 1886. Back then, it was an important spot for shipping goods. It was a stop on the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad. This railroad helped move things like farm products and other supplies across the country.
A post office opened in Elmont in 1887. This meant people could send and receive letters and packages right in their community. The post office served the area for many years, but it closed down in 1955.

Today, Elmont has an elementary school. This school is part of the USD 345 Seaman school district. Kids in the area go to this school to learn and grow.
