Ambassador Dr. Suresh Chandra Chalise

The Embassy of Nepal in London is like Nepal's official home in the United Kingdom. It's where diplomats from Nepal work to keep good relationships with the UK government. They also help Nepali citizens living in the UK and promote Nepal's interests.

Nepal's Home in London

An embassy is a special office in a foreign country. It's where a country's representatives, called diplomats, work. Their main job is to build strong friendships between their home country and the country they are visiting. They also help their own citizens who are living or traveling there. The Embassy of Nepal in London does all these things for Nepal in the UK.

A Historic Building

The building where the Embassy of Nepal is located is very old and special. It was built between 1863 and 1865 for a person named Samuel Morton Peto. The architect who designed it was James Murray. This building is so important that it is officially called a "Grade II listed" building. This means it has historical value and is protected, so it cannot be changed too much without special permission.

Keeping the Embassy Safe

In 2013, there were some talks about selling the embassy building. This was because the building needed a lot of expensive repairs to keep it in good condition. The estimated cost for these repairs was very high. However, many Nepali people living in Britain were very upset about the idea of selling their embassy. They felt it was an important symbol of Nepal in the UK. Because of their strong feelings, the plans to sell the building did not go ahead.
