An embassy is like a special office for one country in another country. It helps people from that country when they are abroad. It also helps the two countries work together. The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in London is Saudi Arabia's main office in the United Kingdom. Its official name is the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia has other important offices in London too. These include a Defence Attaché’s Office, which handles military matters. There is also a Cultural Bureau, a Medical Section, and a Commercial Section. These offices help with different needs, like culture, health, and business.
The Embassy Building: Crewe House
The Saudi Embassy is located in a beautiful building called Crewe House. This large house was built a long time ago, in 1730, by a designer named Edward Sheppard. It stands in its own gardens in Mayfair, a famous part of London.
A Historic London Building
Crewe House was built in the Georgian style. This means it has a classic, grand look. It is a very special building, listed as a Grade II* building. This listing means it is important and protected because of its history and design.
The house has changed a lot over the years. Many of its inside decorations were added in the early 1800s. Some of the original designs from Edward Sheppard might still be there today.
