Emily Batty is a super talented Canadian mountain biker who specializes in cross-country races. She was born on June 16, 1988. Emily has won many important medals, including a bronze at the 2016 World Championships. She also won a gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in her home country, Canada, and a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Emily's Racing Journey

Emily started her racing adventure in 1999. By 2001, she was already competing in the Canada Cup Series. This is a big step for young riders!

Joining Professional Teams

Emily joined the Trek World Racing team for the 2010 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup season. A year later, in 2011, she moved to the Subaru-Trek team. These teams are like professional sports teams for cyclists.

Commonwealth Games Silver

At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, Emily won a silver medal. She finished right behind her Canadian teammate, Catharine Pendrel. Catharine was very proud of Emily, saying she was "on fire."

Pan American Games Gold

The next big event was the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. This time, Emily raced on her home soil! She and Catharine Pendrel again took the top two spots. But this time, Emily finished first, winning the gold medal! She was six seconds faster than Catharine. Emily said it was amazing for Canada to win both gold and silver.

Close Call at the 2016 Olympics

Emily competed for Canada again at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She had just won a bronze medal at the World Championships, so she was in great form. In the Olympic race, she finished a very close fourth place, just missing a bronze medal. She was only about 10 meters from winning a medal! Emily felt mixed emotions because she rode incredibly strong but just missed out.

Family and Hobbies

Emily has two older brothers and a younger sister. Guess what? They all race too! It must be a very active family. During her races, Emily always wears a special pearl necklace. She found it among her mom's jewelry when she was 11 years old. It's like her lucky charm!

Coaching and Team Changes

Emily raced for the Trek Factory Racing team from 2013 to 2020. In 2021, she joined the Canyon team. Her coach is Adam Morka, who is also her husband!
