Emma Miloyo is a talented Kenyan architect. She made history in 2017 by becoming the first woman president of the Architectural Association of Kenya. This is a big achievement for women in architecture! In 2016, a website called Archinect.com named her one of the top five new female architects in East Africa.

Early Life and Education

Emma Miloyo grew up in Nairobi, Kenya. She went to Loreto Convent Msongari for primary school. Later, she attended The Kenya High School from 1995 to 1998.

After high school, she studied architecture at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. She worked very hard and graduated in 2006. Emma was the first woman to earn a first-class honours degree in architecture from that university. This shows how dedicated and smart she is!

Amazing Career in Architecture

Emma Miloyo is a co-founder of Design Source, an architectural firm. She started this company in January 2007, right after finishing university. Design Source has offices in both Nairobi and Mombasa.

In 2015, Emma was chosen for the Eisenhower Fellows Women's Leadership Program. This program helps leaders grow and connect with others.

Leading the Architectural Association

Emma Miloyo became the Vice President of the Architectural Association of Kenya in June 2015. She served in this role until February 2017. Then, in March 2017, she became the first female president of the association. This was a huge step for women in the field of architecture in Kenya.

Inspiring Young People

Emma is passionate about encouraging young women to become architects. She believes it's a great career choice for them. She also volunteers her time to help girls from low-income families attend school. She does this through the Ex-Bomarian Education Trust Fund. Emma is also a founding member of WIRE (Women in Real Estate). This group supports women working in the property industry.

Personal Life

Emma Miloyo is married and has three children. She and her husband, Chris Naicca, are partners in their architectural firm, Design Source Limited. They started the company together in 2007.

Emma Miloyo has been recognized for her achievements many times. The newspaper Business Daily Africa listed her as one of Kenya's Top 40 Under 40 Women twice. She received this honor in both 2011 and 2018. This shows her lasting impact and success.
