Emma Miloyo is a talented Kenyan architect. She made history in 2017 by becoming the first woman president of the Architectural Association of Kenya. In 2016, she was named one of the top five "Emerging Female Architects of East Africa."

Her Early Life and Education
Emma grew up in Nairobi, Kenya. She went to Loreto Convent Msongari for primary school. Later, she attended The Kenya High School from 1995 to 1998.
Studying Architecture
She studied architecture at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. Emma graduated in 2006 with a degree in architecture. She was the first woman to earn a first-class honours degree in architecture from that university.
Her Amazing Career
After graduating, Emma quickly started her career. She is a partner at Design Source, an architecture firm. She helped start this company in January 2007.
Building a Business
Design Source has offices in Nairobi and Mombasa. Emma was also a founding board member for the Konza Technology City Board. This shows her leadership skills in big projects.
Leading the Way
In 2015, Emma was chosen for the Eisenhower Fellows program. This program helps leaders grow their skills. In June 2015, she became the Vice President of the Architectural Association of Kenya. She served in this role until February 2017.
Becoming President
In March 2017, Emma Miloyo became the first female president of the Architectural Association of Kenya. This was a very important step for women in architecture.
Inspiring Young People
Emma is passionate about helping young women. She wants them to see architecture as a great career choice. She volunteers to help girls in need go to school. She is also a founding board member of WIRE (Women in Real Estate).
Her Family Life
Emma is married and has three children. She and her husband, Chris Naicca, are partners in their architecture firm, Design Source Limited. They started the company together in 2007.
Special Recognition
Business Daily Africa recognized Emma Miloyo as one of Kenya's Top 40 Under 40 Women. She received this honor twice, in 2011 and again in 2018.
