Manuela Ruiz Penella (born March 2, 1931 – died August 27, 2007), known as Emma Penella, was a famous Spanish actress. She starred in many films and TV shows.
Emma Penella's Life Story
Manuela Ruiz Penella was born in Madrid, Spain, on March 2, 1931. Her father was Ramón Ruiz Alonso and her mother was Magdalena Penella Silva, who was also an actress. This meant her grandfather, Manuel Penella, was an actor too!
Emma had two younger sisters, Elisa and Teresa. They also became actresses, just like their mother and grandfather. The three sisters chose not to use their father's last name, Ruiz, for their acting careers.
Emma started her acting journey in the 1950s. She appeared in the 1952 film The Eyes Leave a Trace. She became much more recognized after her role in the movie The Executioner in 1963.
In 1962, Emma Penella won an award for best actress. The Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos gave her this award for her work in the film Sentencia contra una mujer.
In 1967, Emma married a film producer named Emiliano Piedra. He passed away in 1991.
Emma Penella died on August 27, 2007, when she was 76 years old. She passed away due to an illness related to her diabetes.
