A Look at Its History
The village of Emmaste-Selja has a long history. It was first written about in records back in 1798. At that time, it was called Selja.
Historically, the village was connected to a large estate known as Emmaste Manor. A manor was like a big country house with a lot of land around it, often owned by a wealthy family.
For a period between 1977 and 1997, Selja was actually part of another nearby village called Sinima. Later, it became its own separate village again.
