Emmitt H. Ford (born December 13, 1943 – died November 10, 2014) was an American politician from Tennessee. He served as a representative for the 86th district in Shelby County from 1975 to 1981. He was also the uncle of Harold Ford Jr., who later became a United States Congressman.
Early Life in Memphis
Emmitt Ford grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. He was one of twelve children in his family. He went to Geeter High School and later studied at Tennessee State University.
Political Career Highlights
Emmitt Ford followed in his brother's footsteps. He took over the representative seat from his brother, Harold Ford Sr.. Mr. Ford served the 86th district until 1981. After he left office, Rufus E. Jones became the new representative for that district.
