Amazing Artists Who Drew for Enid Blyton
Eelco Martinus ten Harmsen van der Beek and Noddy
One of the most important artists was Eelco Martinus ten Harmsen van der Beek. He was from the Netherlands. People often called him van der Beek or just Beek.
Beek was already well known in his home country. In the late 1940s, he worked with publishers in London. Together, they created the beloved character Noddy. Noddy became very popular with young children. The idea was to create a friendly character, like a European Mickey Mouse.
Even after Beek passed away in 1953, the Noddy books continued. Another artist, Peter Wienk, worked with Beek on the Noddy books. Wienk drew many Noddy pictures from 1953 to 1970. There was also another Dutch artist named Willy Schermelé who drew for some of Blyton's other books.
Eileen Soper and The Famous Five
Eileen Soper was an English artist. She drew pictures for about 50 of Enid Blyton's books! This included all the books in the exciting Famous Five series. Her drawings helped readers imagine the adventures of Julian, Dick, Anne, George, and Timmy the dog.
Later, in the 1970s, new pictures were drawn for the Famous Five books. These were done by Betty Maxey to give the books a more modern look.

Dorothy M. Wheeler was an English artist. She drew the original pictures for five whole series of books! These included "The Magic Faraway Tree" series and the "Mr Pink-Whistle" series. She also illustrated "Bumpy and His Bus" and "The Little Tree House".
Johan Groenveld
Johan Groenveld was an artist from the Netherlands. He drew the pictures for the Dutch version of The Castle of Adventure. He was known for his illustrations, cartoons, and even maps!
Betty Ladler
Betty Ladler drew pictures for several of Enid Blyton's "Holiday Books." She also contributed to Enid Blyton's Magazine.
Kathleen I. Nixon
