Dorothy M. Wheeler facts for kids
Dorothy Muriel Wheeler (1891–1966) was a talented British artist. She was famous for drawing pictures in children's books, on postcards, and for comic strips. She studied art at the Blackheath School of Art. Her favorite ways to draw were using watercolors and ink.
Dorothy Wheeler's beautiful drawings were used by a company called Bamforth & Co Ltd. This company made lovely postcards. Her art appeared in their Woodland Secrets and Fairy Series collections around 1920.
She is perhaps best known for her work with the very popular children's author, Enid Blyton. Dorothy drew pictures for many of Enid Blyton's widely read books. She also illustrated books by another author, Anne MacDonald. In 1955, she even published her own version of the classic story, The Three Little Pigs. Her last known work was in 1965. These were illustrations for Enid Blyton's book, The Ring O'Bells Mystery.
