The Magic Faraway Tree is a fun children's book. It was written by Enid Blyton and first came out in 1943.

This book is the second one in The Faraway Tree series. It tells the story of three children: Jo, Bessie, and Fanny. In some newer versions, their names are Joe, Beth, and Frannie.

Their cousin Dick, or Rick in later books, comes to stay with them. The children then introduce him to their amazing friends. These friends live in the magical Faraway Tree. They include Silky, Moon-Face, and Saucepan Man.

In 2003, people voted for their favorite books in the UK. This book was chosen as the 66th most popular in the BBC's Big Read poll.

Exploring the Faraway Tree Lands

The Faraway Tree is very special. Magical lands appear at the top of the tree. These lands change all the time. The children and their friends visit many different and exciting places.

The Land of Topsy Turvy

This land is very strange. Everyone walks on their hands here. Everything is also upside down. A policeman gets mad at Jo. He uses a spell to turn Jo upside down too!

The Land of Spells

This land is full of magic. Many witches and wizards live here. A kind old witch helps Jo. She uses a spell to turn him right side up again.

The Land of Dreams

Things in this land feel like a dream. Everything is unreal and floaty. The Sandman throws sand in the children's eyes. This makes them fall asleep. They get stuck in this dreamy land for a while.

The Land of Do-As-You-Please

This is a super fun land! Everyone can do exactly what they want. The children have a great time here. Jo even gets to drive a train. They all get to splash around in the ocean.

The Land of Toys

Saucepan Man makes a mistake in this land. He thinks it is the Land of Goodies. He tries to steal candy and gets put in jail. Jo and the others have to rescue him.

The Land of Goodies

This land is filled with free treats. You can find cake and treacle pudding everywhere. Rick eats a knocker from a house. This gets him into trouble with the residents.

The Land of the Old Woman

Dame Washalot has a friend. She is an old woman who lives in a shoe. She comes down the Faraway Tree. She tries to live in Moonface's house. The children trick her to go back to her own land. Rick helps them, making up for his mistake.

The Land of Magic Medicines

The children's mother gets sick. They visit this land to find special medicine. They hope it will make her feel better.

The Land of Tempers

Everyone in this land has a bad temper. If you lose your temper here, you might get stuck. You would have to stay in the land forever.

The Land of Presents

This is a wonderful place. It is full of gifts and surprises. The children walk around picking up presents. They find gifts for each other and for their parents.
