About the Enosburg Opera House

The Enosburg Opera House is located in the village of Enosburg Falls. You can find it on Depot Street. It is a large building made of wood. It has one main floor above a stone basement.

A tall, square tower rises from one corner of the building. This tower makes the Opera House easy to spot in the village. The outside of the building is covered with wooden boards called clapboards. The main door is set back from the street. It leads to the basement level.

History of the Building

The Opera House was built in 1892. It was a gift to the town from the B.J. Kendall Company. Mr. B.J. Kendall was a local pharmacist. He became very rich by selling medicines for horses.

The company officially gave the building to the town in 1894. Since then, it has been the place for town meetings. It is still used for performances today. Famous people like John Philip Sousa performed there a long time ago.
