Enota Park facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Enota Park is a fun play area in the Westview neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. It's about 0.3 acres, which is a little smaller than a football field. You can find Enota Park close to the Westview cemetery and Interstate 20.

This park is getting a cool makeover! It will soon be part of the Westside Trail, which is a section of the Atlanta BeltLine. Back in 2004, a study called The Beltline Emerald Necklace: Atlanta's New Public Realm suggested that Enota Park should be made much bigger. This study was done by The Trust for Public Land.

Growing Enota Park

The Beltline Emerald Necklace idea was to make Enota Park grow from its small 0.3 acres to a huge 10 acres! So far, The Trust for Public Land has bought six more pieces of land. This adds 3.8 acres to the park.

When it's all finished, the park will be about 8 acres. It will be bordered by Interstate 20 to the north and the Westside Trail to the east. Lucile Avenue will be to the south, and Enota Place will be to the west.

Designing the Park's Future

Enota Park is mostly surrounded by thick woods. This area hasn't been built on much because the land is hilly and uneven. The plan for Enota Park is to keep these woodlands. This is because having a lot of trees and nature is special in a busy city.

Starting in early 2018, people from the nearby neighborhoods began to meet. They are helping to decide what the new park will look like. Their ideas are important for the design.

About $600,000 in federal money will be used to improve the park. This money will help build a new playground and a field for many different sports. There will also be a new entrance to the BeltLine for people who want to walk or ride their bikes.
