About Enrico Pieranunzi
Early Life and Music Studies
Enrico Pieranunzi grew up loving music. His father, Alvaro Pieranunzi, was a jazz guitarist. This encouraged Enrico to start learning music when he was very young. He studied classical music for many years. In 1973, he even became a music professor. He taught for two years before deciding to focus on playing music full-time.
Starting His Career
In 1975, Enrico left teaching to become a full-time musician. He began playing in small groups called trios and ensembles. Since then, he has recorded more than 60 albums! He has also worked as a session musician, which means he plays on other artists' recordings.
Working with Other Musicians
Enrico Pieranunzi has played with many famous jazz musicians. Some of these include Chet Baker, Jim Hall, Lee Konitz, and Charlie Haden. He released his first album as a band leader in 1975.
