Epitonium tenellum, also known as the small wentletrap, is a tiny sea snail. It's a type of gastropod mollusk, which means it's a snail that lives in the ocean. These snails are special because they are ectoparasitic, meaning they live on the outside of another animal and get their food from it. They belong to the Epitoniidae family, which are often called wentletraps.
Where This Snail Lives
You can find the small wentletrap snail in shallow waters. It lives in the southeastern parts of Australia. You can also find it around the North Island of New Zealand.
What It Looks Like
The shell of the Epitonium tenellum snail is quite small. Its height can be anywhere from 10 millimeters to 20 millimeters. That's about the size of a small button or a large pea.
