Erick Rowsell (born on July 29, 1990) is a British former professional road racing cyclist. He competed professionally from 2012 to 2019. During his career, he rode for teams such as Endura Racing, NetApp–Endura, and Madison Genesis. After retiring from racing, Erick started working for British Cycling. He is now the Elite Road Racing Manager. Before this, he was part of their Olympic Development Programme.

Erick Rowsell's Cycling Career

Erick Rowsell showed his talent in cycling from a young age. In 2007, he won the junior race at the British National Time Trial Championships. This was a big surprise, as he beat the world champion, Peter Kennaugh. A time trial is a race against the clock, where cyclists ride alone.

The next year, in 2008, Erick won another important junior race. He took first place at the British National Road Race Championships. He also won the prologue time trial of the Junior Tour of Wales. A prologue is a short opening stage of a race. Erick then went on to win the entire three-day event. He joined famous cyclists like Charly Wegelius and Geraint Thomas who had won it before. He finished eight seconds ahead of Johan Fredrik Ziesler from Norway.

In November 2014, the Madison Genesis team announced that Erick would join them. He became a key part of their team for the 2015 season. He continued to race professionally until 2019.

Life Outside Cycling

Erick Rowsell isn't the only cyclist in his family. His older sister, Joanna Rowsell, was also a professional cyclist. She competed in both road and track cycling.
