Erik Nevland was born on November 10, 1977, in Stavanger, Norway. He is a former professional footballer who played as a forward. Erik is now the sporting director for Viking. During his career, he played for teams in Norway, England, Sweden, and the Netherlands. He also played eight times for the Norway national football team.

Erik Nevland's Football Journey
Erik Nevland started his football career at Viking in Norway. When he was 19, he moved to Manchester United in England in 1997. Manchester United signed him after he scored many goals during a trial.
Playing for Manchester United
Erik's only goal for Manchester United's main team was in a League Cup game in October 1998. He found it hard to get a regular spot in the team. He played one league game for Manchester United as a substitute in January 1998. During his time there, he also went on loan to his old club Viking and to IFK Göteborg in Sweden.
Returning to Viking and Success
In January 2000, Erik went back to Viking permanently. This was a great move for him! He helped Viking win the Norwegian Cup in 2001. He also scored two important goals in 2002 when Viking famously beat Chelsea in the UEFA Cup.
Time in the Netherlands
In November 2004, Erik joined Groningen in the Netherlands. He quickly became a fan favorite. In his first half-season, he scored 16 goals in 20 matches. Erik also scored the very first goal in Groningen's new stadium, Euroborg. In December 2007, fans in Groningen voted him 'Groninger of the Year'.
Playing in the Premier League
On January 28, 2008, Erik signed with Premier League team Fulham in England. He made his second-ever Premier League appearance on February 3, 2008. He played over 50 league games for Fulham.
Final Years at Viking
In June 2010, Erik Nevland returned to Viking for the third time. He was given the role of team captain. He played for Viking until he retired from professional football.
International Football for Norway
Erik Nevland played for the Norway national football team eight times. His first game for the national team was in 2001.
He also played 22 games for Norway's Under-21 team and scored one goal. He was part of the team that finished third in the 1998 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship.
Life After Playing Football
After retiring from playing, Erik Nevland worked as a car salesman for a while. On August 5, 2021, he was appointed as the sporting director for Viking. In this role, he helps manage the club's football operations.
