Erika Jucá Kokay (born August 15, 1957) is a Brazilian politician. She was born in Ceará, Brazil. However, she has spent her political career representing the Federal District. She has been a state representative there since 2011.

About Erika Kokay
Erika Kokay's parents are Lojos Ferenz Kokay and Maria do Perpétuo Socorro Jucá. Before becoming a politician, she worked as a banker. She has also been involved with trade unions since 1992. A trade union is a group that protects workers' rights. She is a member and a past president of a large trade union called Central Única dos Trabalhadores.
Erika Kokay's Political Journey
Erika Kokay has been involved in many important political decisions. She voted against removing then-president Dilma Rousseff from office. She also voted against a law in 2017 that changed rules for workers in Brazil. Later, she voted to support an investigation into the next president, Michel Temer.
Views on Education and Rights
Kokay strongly disagrees with a bill called the "nonpartisan school bill." She believes this bill would limit free speech in schools. She said it could make students seem like "enemies of the nation."
She supported the National Truth Commission. This group looked into crimes that happened during Brazil's military rule. This period was from 1946 to 1988. Erika Kokay also supports LGBT rights. This was a main topic in her campaign when she ran for re-election in 2018.
