The Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Estrella is a beautiful old chapel in Toledo, Spain. It's a special kind of small church called a hermitage. This chapel was built in a style called Baroque, which means it has lots of fancy decorations and dramatic shapes.

The chapel was started by a group of gardeners, known as a "co-fraternity of hortelanos." They used to meet at the nearby Church of Santiago del Arrabal.

A Look at Its History

When Was It Built?

The construction of the Ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Estrella was finished in the 14th century. That's a very long time ago! A famous builder named Juan Bautista Monegro helped design it. He was the main master builder for the cathedral at that time.

What's Inside?

Inside the chapel, you can see amazing paintings and altars. These were added in the 18th century. The altars feature special "Solomonic columns." These columns look like they are twisting, which is a common and beautiful feature of Baroque art.
