The Estadio de Béisbol Charros de Jalisco is a well-known stadium in Zapopan, Mexico. It is also called the Estadio Panamericano de Béisbol. This stadium is used for both baseball games and track and field events. It is located near the city of Guadalajara.

The stadium was built for a big sports event called the 2011 Pan American Games. It cost a lot of money to build. The stadium officially opened in 2011. It was approved by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) just before the games began. The IAAF is a group that sets rules for track and field sports.

The stadium usually holds about 8,500 people for track and field events. But for the Pan American Games, its capacity was made bigger to hold 15,000 people. It has a special eight-lane running track. There is also another track nearby for athletes to warm up.

History of the Stadium

The Estadio de Béisbol Charros de Jalisco has an interesting history. It was first built for a major international sports event. After that, it became a home for professional sports teams.

Hosting the Pan American Games

In 2011, the stadium was the main place for the athletics competition during the Pan American Games. This is a big sports event for countries in the Americas. Athletes from many different countries came to compete here.

Becoming a Baseball Home

After the Pan American Games, the stadium was used for different events. It hosted concerts and other sports competitions. On September 14, 2014, a baseball team bought the stadium. This team is called the Charros de Jalisco. They play in the Mexican Pacific League, which is a professional baseball league in Mexico.

The stadium has also hosted other important baseball tournaments. In 2017, it was one of the places for the first round of the 2017 World Baseball Classic. This is a huge international baseball tournament where teams from all over the world compete. In 2018, it hosted the 2018 Caribbean Series, another major baseball event for teams from the Caribbean. The stadium also hosted games for the 2019 WBSC Premier12 tournament.

Since 2021, another baseball team also uses the stadium. This team is the Mariachis de Guadalajara. They play in the Mexican League, which is another professional baseball league in Mexico. So, the stadium is a busy place for baseball fans!
