Ethel Glenn Hier (born June 25, 1889 – died January 14, 1971) was a talented American composer, teacher, and pianist. She had roots in Scotland, which added to her rich musical background.

About Ethel Glenn Hier

Ethel Glenn Hier was born in Madisonville, a neighborhood in Cincinnati, Ohio. She loved music from a young age. She studied at Ohio Wesleyan University and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. In 1908, she finished her piano studies there.

She continued her musical journey in 1911, taking classes to learn how to compose music. Later, in 1917, she joined the Institute of Musical Art. This school is now known as the famous Juilliard.

After finishing her education, Ethel Glenn Hier became a professional composer. She also taught piano and composition to others. She first taught in Cincinnati, then moved to New York to continue her work. She passed away in Winter Park, Florida.

Her Music and Compositions

Ethel Glenn Hier wrote many different pieces of music. Her compositions included works for orchestras and various songs. Here are some of her well-known musical creations:
