What's in a Name?
The name "Etoile" has an interesting story! It's a French word that means "star." Before it was called Etoile, the area was known as Caney Fork. A post office opened here in 1886 and was given the new name, Etoile. We don't know exactly why it was named "star," but it's a unique and pretty name for a community. The Etoile Post Office served the community for many years, but it eventually closed its doors in 1988.
