The Fiordland penguin (Eudyptes pachyrhynchus) is a special kind of crested penguin. These amazing birds have cool features like white stripes on their bellies and cheeks, and a sleek black back. They also sport bright yellow eyebrows that get darker as they grow older. Look closely and you'll see their orange beak, big feet, and small black tails. An adult Fiordland penguin usually weighs about 8 pounds and stands between 17 to 24 inches tall.

What do Fiordland Penguins Eat?
Fiordland penguins are expert hunters in the ocean! Their favorite foods include fish, squid, and tiny krill (which are like small shrimps). They also love to drink super cold water.
Where do Fiordland Penguins Live?
Most Fiordland penguins make their homes in the forests along the coast of southern New Zealand. You might also find some of them living in Tasmania. They can live for a long time in the wild, usually between 15 to 20 years. These penguins are incredibly fast swimmers in the waters around New Zealand.
