Eugene "Ted" Michael Joseph Patrick Melaniphy was a talented footballer from Ireland. He played as a forward in the famous Football League during the 1930s. Ted was born in Westport, Ireland, on February 5, 1912. He passed away on June 3, 1991.

Playing for Plymouth Argyle
Ted started his professional football journey with Plymouth Argyle. He joined the team for the 1931-32 season. He played many exciting games for them until the 1935-36 season.
During his time at Plymouth Argyle, Ted played in 68 matches in the Football League Second Division. He was a great scorer, netting 33 goals for the team! A special moment was on October 7, 1933. On that day, he scored three goals in one game. This amazing achievement is called a hat-trick!
Adventures with Cardiff City and More
After leaving Plymouth Argyle, Ted moved to Cardiff City. He played for them during the 1936-37 season. With Cardiff City, he played in 20 league matches. He continued to show his scoring skills, adding 8 more goals to his record.
After his time at Cardiff City, Ted had a short period playing for Worcester City. Later, he joined Northampton Town for the 1939-40 season. However, this season was cut short. It was abandoned after only a few games because of the start of World War II.
