Eureka is a small place in Luce Township, which is part of Spencer County, in the state of Indiana, United States. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town would. Instead, it's governed by the county.
History
Eureka was first planned and created in the year 1858. A place to send and receive mail, called a post office, was opened in Eureka in 1872. This post office helped people send letters and packages for many years until it closed down in 1921.
There's a popular story about how Eureka got its name. It's said that a very early settler, someone who moved to the area to live, was so excited when he found this spot that he shouted "Eureka!" This word comes from ancient Greek and means "I have found it!"

According to a system that classifies climates around the world, called the Köppen Climate Classification, Eureka has a humid subtropical climate. On climate maps, this type of weather is often shown as "Cfa". This means the area gets a good amount of rain all year, and its coldest month usually has an average temperature above freezing.
