Eureka (also known as Eureka!) was a fun British TV show about science and inventing things. It was made by the BBC and first shown between 1982 and 1986. You could still watch repeats of it until 1987.

The show was created by Clive Doig and Jeremy Beadle. It explored the interesting stories behind how everyday objects were invented. Imagine learning how a simple pencil or a wheel was first thought up!

Who Was in the Eureka Show?

The TV show Eureka had different presenters over the years. Jeremy Beadle hosted the first series in 1982. Then, Sarah Greene took over for the second series in 1983. Paul McDowell also presented in 1983 and 1985. Finally, Wilf Lunn was the presenter for the fourth series in 1986.

The show also had a group of actors who helped bring the inventions to life. They would act out the moments when inventions were first made. They also performed funny skits to share important facts and information. Some of the well-known actors included Sylvester McCoy, Simon Gipps-Kent, Bernard Holley, and Madeline Smith.

Wilf Lunn's Madcap Inventions

A popular part of each Eureka episode was a segment featuring Wilf Lunn. He would show off his own wild and often silly inventions. These inventions were not always very practical! Often, another cast member like Sylvester McCoy would look very confused or amused by Wilf's creations.

In the last series of the show, the format changed a bit. Wilf Lunn became the main presenter. He played a character called the "Doctor of Alternative Invention." He worked at the "Eureka Museum of Invention," making the show even more fun and quirky.
