The European Forest Institute (EFI) is an international group. It was started by many European countries. EFI helps us understand forests better. It has 30 member countries and about 130 other groups. These groups are from 40 different countries. EFI focuses on three main topics. These are: how we use forest resources smartly (called bioeconomy), how forests can stay strong against changes (resilience), and how forests are managed (governance).

What EFI Does

EFI does a lot of important work. They do research on forest topics. They also help leaders make good decisions about forests. EFI helps people working with forests connect with each other. They share true and useful information about forests. They also speak up for forest research. They want science to be the base for all forest rules.

EFI is very good at leading projects across Europe. They have finished over 30 projects for the European Commission. EFI is now focusing on looking at forests in many ways. This means they combine ideas from social, economic, and environmental experts. This helps them understand forests all over Europe.

EFI also helps people who make rules and decisions. For example, they have a group called ThinkForest. This group brings together important leaders and top forest scientists. They talk about big issues related to forests. EFI is becoming a key place for forest knowledge. They help turn what we know into actions for a better future.

EFI also has several special facilities. These use research knowledge to help with specific topics. They help people learn more and work together. They also provide expert advice when needed.
