Prince Eustachy Erazm Sanguszko (born 1768, died 1844) was an important Polish nobleman. He was a brave general, a skilled military leader, and a clever politician. He lived during a time when Poland was facing many challenges.

Early Life
Eustachy Erazm Sanguszko was born in 1768. His father was Hieronim Janusz Sanguszko and his mother was Cecylia Urszula Potocka.
French Royal Army
From 1780 to 1786, Sanguszko studied at a military school in Strasbourg. After graduating, he served in the French Royal Army. He was part of a group called the Régiment Royal-Allemand.
Serving Poland
The Great Sejm
On February 3, 1789, Sanguszko began serving in the Polish army. He started as a captain in the 8th National Cavalry Brigade. He quickly rose through the ranks. By April 1792, he was a vice-brigadier.
Sanguszko was also a representative for the Lublin area in the Great Sejm. The Sejm was like a parliament where important decisions were made. This meeting lasted from 1788 to 1792.
War and Bravery
Sanguszko fought in the Polish-Russian War of 1792. He was a cavalry brigadier at the Battle of Zieleńce. For his bravery in this battle, he received the Virtuti Militari medal on June 23. This medal is one of Poland's highest military honors.
By July 29, 1792, at just 24 years old, Sanguszko was promoted to brigadier. He took command of his entire brigade.
Kościuszko Uprising
In 1794, Sanguszko became a major general during the Kościuszko Uprising. This was a big fight for Poland's independence. He was a commander of a division.
During the Battle of Szczekociny, he famously saved the life of Tadeusz Kościuszko, the leader of the uprising. Later, he was wounded while fighting during the siege of Warsaw.
Napoleonic Wars
Sanguszko joined the general staff of Napoleon Bonaparte. He was a brigadier general during Napoleon's campaign in Russia. He took part in the march towards Moscow.
He chose not to join Prince Józef Poniatowski in the 1813 campaign. This was to protect his family's lands in Ukraine. Because of this, he was honorably discharged from the army.
Later Life
After Napoleon's defeat, Sanguszko returned to his family lands. These lands included the battlefield of Zieleńce. He often thought about the historical events he was part of. He wrote down his thoughts in his "Memoirs." From 1817 to 1820, he served as a governor in Volhynia.
Family Life
On June 26, 1798, Eustachy Erazm Sanguszko married Klementyna Czartoryska in Slavuta. They had three children together:

- Roman Sanguszko (born 1800, died 1881)
- Władysław Hieronim Sanguszko (born 1803, died 1870)
